The Cable Cast-On
Tricot / Knitting
I really like the cable cast-on: it allows you to cast-on without leaving a long tail, it is pretty and very useful to cast-on stitches at the beginning or the end of a row in the middle of a knitting.
SET UP STEPS:
F i g . 1 - Make a slip
knot and place it on the left needle. It is the first stitch. |
|
Fig. 2-3 - Knit the first
stitch but do not remove it from the right needle. |
|
Fig. 4-5 - Place the new stitch on the top of the left needle taking it from the front loop to twist it.
STEPS TO REPEAT UNTIL YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF STITCHES:
Fig. 6-7 - Insert the needle in between the 2 first stitches of the left needle, knit but do not remove it from the needle.
Fig. 8-9 - Place the new stitch on the top of the left needle taking it from the front loop to twist it.
Fig. 10 - You have to pay attention: the first and second stitches you cast-on are always very tightened, do not kit these stitches together at first row. |
