Slip 3 stitches to the right-hand needle, as follows: slip 1 knitwise, slip 2 purlwise. Insert the left-hand needle into the stitch slipped knitwise, and pass it over stitches 2 and 3. |

Return stitches 2 and 3 to the left-hand needle; knit stitch 2. |

Work a yarn over, then knit stitch 3. The yarn over returns the stitch count to the original 3 stitches. |
