Yogurt and Fruit
Makes 4 servings
You'll be surprised to see how much your dog will love fruit and yogurt. This
is a nice sweet
treat that contains protein, fiber, and antioxidants. I never freeze this dish;
it will keep for
1 to 2 days in the refrigerator. It must be kept covered, or the bananas and
apples will turn brown.
2 cups cooked rolled oats
1 cup lowfat cottage cheese
1 cup plain nonfat yogurt
3 tablespoons plain wheat germ
1 teaspoon flaxseed
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup diced apple
1/2 cup chopped banana
1/4 cup dried apples
2 tablespoons olive oil
Combine all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and serve!
Variation: Add 1 hard-cooked egg, peeled and chopped, for extra protein.
All About Blueberries
Blueberries are low in calories, low in fat, packed with vitamins and
minerals, and contain bioflavonoids, which help reduce the likelihood of
hemorrhaging. When selecting blueberries, make sure that they are plump, firm,
uniform in size, and have a frosted blue color. Refrigerate your blueberries
tightly covered. They will last in the coldest part of the fridge for up to 10
days, or in the freezer in an airtight container for up to 2 months. Remove the
stems and wash the blueberries on the day you actually use them.
