The Alternate Cable Cast-On
Tricot / Knitting
The alternate cable cast-on allows you to cast-on in rib without leaving a long tail. It is very elastic and elegant.
SET UP STEPS:
Fig.1 - Follow the cable cast-on method until figure 5.
STEPS TO REPEAT UNTIL YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF STITCHES:
Fig. 6-7 - Insert the needle as if to purl in between the 2 first stitches of the left needle, purl but do not remove it from the needle.
Fig. 8 - Place the new stitch on the top of the left needle without twisting it.
Fig. 9-10 - Insert the needle as if to knit in between the 2 first stitches of the left needle, knit but do not remove it from the needle.
Fig.11-12 - Place the new stitch on the top of the left needle taking it from the front loop to twist it.
Fig. 13 - Continue
alternating a knit stitch and a purl stitch until you have the right amount of stitches. You have to pay attention : the first and second stitches you cast-on are always very tightened, do not kit them together at first row. |
