Basic Rolled Edge Hat
Tricot / Knitting
This basic hat and two variations will fit most adults. You may want to adjust the patterns for someone with a larger or smaller head size. The trick to getting a hat to fit well is to get the correct measurement for the hat around the head, as well as the length from the center of the hat to the bottom of the brim.
If you can, it is best to measure the hat recipient before beginning. Then, since a hat should fit snuggly, you will need to subtract about 1" from the measurement around the head before calculating your gauge. It may take some trial and error before you get the best fitting hat for an unusual head size.
