Gauge:
12 sts = 4” in st st
C4B:
Slip 2 sts onto cable needle and hold to the back, knit two sts from left needle then knit 2 sts from cable needle.
C4F:
Slip 2 sts onto cable needle and hold to the front, knit two sts from left needle then knit 2 sts from cable needle.
T3L:
Slip 2 sts onto cable needle and hold to the front, purl one st from left needle then knit 2 sts from cable needle.
T3R:
Slip 1 st onto cable needle and hold to the back, knit two sts from left needle then purl 1 st from cable needle.
Loosely cast on 22 sts.

The opening is formed by dividing the stitches in half and working them individually then joining them back together.

Row 2: P2, k2, p2, k3, p4, k3, p2, k2, p2.
Row 3: K2, p2, k2, p3, C4B, p3, k2, p2, k2.
Row 4: Repeat row 2.
Row 5: (K2, p2) twice, T3R, T3L, (p2, k2) twice.
Row 6: (P2, k2) five times, p2.
Row 7: (K2, p2) twice, k2, p1, TURN.
Only 11 stitches have been worked.
Row 8: K1, (p2, k2) twice, p2 TURN.
