Needles:
Size 10.5, cable needle
Gauge:
12 sts = 4” in st st
C4B:
Slip 2 sts onto cable needle and hold to the back, knit two sts from left needle then knit 2 sts from cable needle.
C4F:
Slip 2 sts onto cable needle and hold to the front, knit two sts from left needle then knit 2 sts from cable needle.
T3L:
Slip 2 sts onto cable needle and hold to the front, purl one st from left needle then knit 2 sts from cable needle.
T3R:
Slip 1 st onto cable needle and hold to the back, knit two sts from left needle then purl 1 st from cable needle.
Loosely cast on 22 sts.

Row 1: (K2, p2) five times, k2.
Row 2: (P2, k2) five times, p2.
Row 3: Repeat row 1.
Row 4: Repeat row 2.
Row 5: K2, p2, (T3L, T3R, p2) twice, k2.
Row 6: P2, k3, p4, k4, p4, k3, p2.
Row 7: K2, p3, C4B, p4, C4F, p3, k2.
Row 8: Repeat row 6.
Row 9: K2, p2, (T3R, T3L, p2) twice, k2.
Row 10: Repeat row 2.
Row 11: K2, p1, (T3R, p2, T3L) twice, p1, k2.

Opening:
The opening is formed by dividing the stitches in half and working them individually then joining them back together.
Row 1: (K2, p2) twice, T3L, T3R, (p2, k2) twice.
Row 2: P2, k2, p2, k3, p4, k3, p2, k2, p2.
Row 3: K2, p2, k2, p3, C4B, p3, k2, p2, k2.
Row 4: Repeat row 2.
Row 5: (K2, p2) twice, T3R, T3L, (p2, k2) twice.
Row 6: (P2, k2) five times, p2.
Row 7: (K2, p2) twice, k2, p1, TURN.
Only 11 stitches have been worked.
Row 8: K1, (p2, k2) twice, p2 TURN.
Repeat rows 7 and 8 four more times.
Then (K2, p2) twice, k2, p1. DO NOT turn.
Cut yarn.
Reattach yarn to begin working the second 11 sts.
Continuing on the right side with yarn reattached:

Joining the two pieces together again:
