• One 16" circular size US 5 (3.75 mm) Or size to obtain gauge
• One set double pointed needles (dpns) size US 5 (3.75 mm)
• Stitch marker
• 3⁄4 yards of 1⁄4" ribbon
• Tapestry needle
GAUGE:
24 sts and 34 rnds = 4" in Baby Cable Rib, slightly stretched.
Take time to save time, check your gauge.
SPECIAL TERMS:
k2tog: knit 2 sts together (1 st decreased)
yo: Yarn over (1 st increased)
BC: (Baby Cable) Knit 2 sts together, leaving sts on left-hand needle, knit into the first st again, slip both sts off left-hand needle
p2tog: Purl 2 sts together (1 st decreased)
ssk: (slip, slip, knit) Slip 2 sts, 1 at a time, knitwise to the right-hand needle; return sts to left-hand needle in turned position and knit them together through the back loops (1 st decreased).

With circular needle, CO 176 (192) sts;
place marker (pm) for beg-of-rnd (BOR) and join to beg working in-the–rnd, being careful not to twist sts.
Begin St st; work even until pc meas 3⁄4 (1)" from beg.
Shape Ruffle, Dec Rnd:
*K2tog; rep from * around—88 (96) sts rem. Work 1 rnd even.
Eyelet Rnd: *K2tog, yo, k9 (10); rep from * around—8 eyelet holes. Work 1 rnd even.
Change to Baby Cable Rib; work even for approx 5 (6)" from beg of Baby Cable Rib, ending after rnd 3.
Shape Crown: Note: Change to dpns when necessary.
Rnd 1: *P1, k2, p2tog, k2, p1; rep from * to end—77 (84) sts rem.
Rnd 2: Knit the knit sts, purl the purl sts as they face you.
Rnd 3: Remove marker, p1, pm (BOR has been moved) *k2, p1, k2, p2tog; rep from * around—66 (72) sts rem.
Rnd 4: *BC, p1; rep from * around.
Rnd 5: *K1, ssk, k2, p1; rep from * around—55 (60) sts rem.
Rnd 6: *K4, p1; rep from * around.
Rnd 7: *K3, ssk; rep from * around—44 (48) sts rem.
Rnd 8: Knit all sts.
Rnd 9: Ssk around—22 (24) sts rem.
Break yarn, leaving approx 6" tail.
Thread tail onto tapestry needle, then pull tail through rem sts.
Pull tight and weave in end.
